PERSONAL BIO

Caroline Fried joined the team that founded CAPRI in 2021. She has research experience in the economics, politics, development, and history of the Asia Pacific, particularly Taiwan and China. She has also researched the cross-border flows of students in higher education and the internationalization of higher education systems. Before joining CAPRI, Caroline was an academic editor and research assistant in Taipei. Caroline hails from North Carolina, and she holds bachelor’s degrees in international affairs and history from Northeastern University, Boston, MA. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, Caroline was awarded a Fulbright grant to complete a master’s degree in Asia-Pacific studies at National Chengchi University, Taipei. She has called Taipei home since 2017.

Internship Job Description

Support the work of the research team in coordinating projects and conducting research.
Work with a small team to carry out operational and administrative tasks.
Promote the Center’s work on social media and contribute creative ideas for the Center’s marketing strategy.
Search for and summarize current events, news, and literature relevant to the Center’s research and convening.
Assist CAPRI staff with the planning and logistics of independent and joint events, both online and in person.
Work in person with our team in Taipei, contributing 20 hours or more per week.
Join global partners’ meeting.

Preferred Intern Education Level

- Master students
- Ph.D. students

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

- Coursework in international affairs, political science, economics, East Asian studies, or another field in the social sciences or humanities. Knowledge in social media management and experience in other multi-media.
- Demonstrated excellence in writing and communication skills in Chinese and English.
- Ability to work as part of a flat team in a start-up environment with shifting priorities.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work as a team player.
- Interns with the possibility for a long-term commitment to the Center’s work after the internship are preferred.

- Upon the completion of the NTU International Mentorship Program, students may continue as interns for an additional 6 months, at the discretion of the organization.
