PERSONAL BIO

Matthew is an international entrepreneur with over 15 years of diverse global experience in fields ranging from digital health to cloud computing to strategy consulting. While he aspires to be many things, at his core he is a dreamer (always looking for better ways to solve old problems), a builder (turning dreams into realities that can outlast him), and a people person (energized by working with and investing in diverse people).

Matthew is currently the Vice President of Product and Operations at PenguinSmart, a digital health company that combines AI and expert insights to provide digital solutions for parent-centered speech and language therapy for children with developmental delays. PenguinSmart is an Alchemist Accelerator & SparkLabs-backed company and was recently named a Top 50 Social Enterprise by the Taiwan Ministry of Digital Affairs. Previously, he led business planning for the cloud services unit of VMware (now Broadcom) and was a product manager at Microsoft. His previous experiences include stints at Accenture, Wellframe, and The JLJ Group, where he was the youngest member of the firm's leadership council. Matthew has served as a consultant to over 40 organizations, including BRAC and One97 (parent company of Paytm).

Internship Job Description

Help push forward the partnerships that will make our AI-assisted online rehab therapy services enabling more effective speech & language improvement available to more children. Although the position is based in Taipei, but the intern will be working with a larger team spread out across North America and Asia.

The Responsibilities Include:

【Executive Support】
- Assist in meeting coordination and arrangements, hosting visitors and guests
- Assist in creating project deliverables and managing tasks and timeline
- Assist in research and data gathering for internal decision-making

【Team Administration Support】
- Assist in monthly administrative tasks
- Assist in team-building event planning and office management

【Marketing Support 】
- Assist in social media account management and engagement, including communication and sales support
- Assist in marketing content management, including simple graphic design, copywriting and posting
- Assistn in collateral creation in preparation for exhibits, media exposure and other external-facing activities
- Other project-specific tasks assigned by the supervisor

Although the position is based in Taipei office, but the intern will be working on a development team distributed between Silicon Valley and Taiwan, and with a larger team spread out across North America and Asia.

Preferred Intern Education Level

- undergraduate students (third year and above)
- Master students
- Ph.D. students

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

- Hands-on experiences in Web Service frameworks and technologies such as Ruby-on-Rails, React.js, or Node.js
- Hands-on experiences and knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Able to read/write/speak English & Mandarin Chinese (you will be working with teammates globally who do not speak Chinese)
- With a background of Computer Science or related fields (e.g. engineering, data analytics)
- A strong interest in health or education and strong logical thinking abilities
- Passionate about programming, innovation, and solving challenging problems
- Hunger to learn and to experiment (and be willing to pivot according to data)
- Bonus points if you have: In-depth understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures and algorithms, operating systems, networks, databases, etc) and Hands-on experiences in CircleCI, AWS, Jira, GraphQL, or Typescript
