PERSONAL BIO

Alexander Grishin is the Manager of the Artificial Intelligence team. Alexander received both of his Master's degrees in Computer Science at the Russian State Technological University (MATI), Russia, and National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He has 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a solid knowledge base of machine learning, statistics, probability, and data analysis.

Prior to joining Ubiik in 2019, Alexander was a member of Gismeteo (the most popular weather forecast service in Russia) from 2008 to 2012, contributing to developing software that was widely used in airports and national meteor agencies. Currently, Alexander is leading Ubiik’s AI Team, applying machine learning and data analytic skills to solve real-world problems together with the team members.

Brief Introduction of the Department

【R&D Department】

Ubiilk's R&D Department focuses on the research and engineering of technologies related to IoT communication systems.

The department manages the whole research and engineering processes and provides complete vertical solutions, which include the communication protocols, end devices, base stations, and cloud services needed for complete IoT solutions. We are now on an aggressive global expansion path! Our team’s goal is to build new products and services for the market and add to the company's product line. Within the department, there are also the Hardware team, the Firmware Team, and the Software Team.

Internship Job Description

As an intern in the research center, you will work collaboratively within a team environment to meet ambitious goals and high-quality standards. You will mainly be responsible for:
- Assisting the data science team
- Statistical data analysis
- Data cleaning and preprocessing
- Performing Machine Learning experiments

Examples of tasks will include general data analysis (statistical data analysis, reports generation, geospatial data visualization), univariate data analysis (time series analysis of electricity consumption, data cauterization, anomaly detection), multivariate data analysis (PV generation prediction), and computer vision tasks (satellite image semantic segmentation, google street view image segmentation, object detection, and classification, handwritten labels OCR).

Preferred Intern Education Level

- undergraduate students (third year and above)
- Master students
- Ph.D. students

Preferred Intern Skill Sets or Qualities

- Education background in computer science, communications engineering, or related field
- Full working proficiency in English
- Experiences in Python, Jupyter, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Numpy
- Experiences in SQL, Keras, Scipy, PIL, Geopandas, and Web scraping will be a plus

Others

- Upon the completion of the NTU International Mentorship Program, students may continue as interns for an additional 3 months - 1 year, at the discretion of the organization
