PERSONAL BIO

Pojanath Chao is an international executive with extensive experience in strategic communications, chamber leadership, and stakeholder engagement. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei (SwedCham), where she champions Swedish innovation, sustainability, and business interests in Taiwan.

Prior to her role in Taipei, Pojanath served for six years as the Executive Director of the Thai-Swedish Chamber of Commerce (SweCham). Under her leadership, SweCham significantly expanded its member services, elevated its public profile, and forged strong partnerships with both local and international stakeholders. Her key initiatives included high-level business forums, Sweden branding campaigns, and the successful rebranding and relaunch of the Chamber's digital platforms.

Born in Thailand, raised in Sweden, and educated in England, Pojanath brings over a decade of cross-cultural experience across Europe and Asia. She combines a deep understanding of the Swedish business ethos with strong local market insights. In Taipei, she is proud to carry the Swedish flag forward — promoting and sharing the best of Swedish innovation, technology, and practices with Taiwan, while fostering mutual prosperity, sustainability, and growth.

Fluent in English, Swedish, and Thai, and currently learning Mandarin Chinese, Pojanath holds a PhD in Politics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. She is passionate about intercultural exchange, sustainable development, and supporting the international business community.

Brief Introduction of the Department

The Marketing and Communications side of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei activities is focused on shaping and promoting the Chamber's brand, voice, and visibility. Through strategic outreach, digital engagement, media relations, and content creation, we support member companies, showcases Swedish innovation, and strengthens the Chamber's presence in Taiwan. We work closely with stakeholders to deliver timely and impactful communications that reflect SwedCham's mission of fostering strong business ties between Sweden and Taiwan.

Internship Job Description

The position offers great opportunity to gain valuable work experience and business-related skills. Moreover, the position offers the possibility to develop a valuable professional network and understanding of international business issues, trade- and commercial matters, as well as business dynamics in Taiwan and the region.

The Intern will play a crucial role in the execution of Chamber initiatives, projects, events and operational activities.

Main responsibilities

Overall, the Intern should actively support the Chamber in its various efforts to promote Sweden, Swedish brands and Swedish business in Taiwan.
Support in the day-to-day administration and operations of the Chamber.
Support in organizing, coordinating and promoting projects, events, seminars and exhibitions.
Create content, edit and distribute marketing and PR materials on behalf of the Chamber such as newsletters, event invitations, event- and exhibition materials and the SwedCham Member Directory.
Assist in the execution of Chamber's social media channels schedule and actively support the Chamber in enhancing its social media presence by contributing with up-to-date, creative, and strategic content. Support the Chamber in developing a social media strategy.
Support the Chamber in fostering and maintaining relationships with partners, members and external organizations.
Support the Chamber in recruiting members, retaining its member base, as well as contributing with creative ideas on how the Chamber can expand its offerings/benefits to its members.
Prepare documents, presentation materials, and assist in writing meeting minutes for Board meetings and other meetings.
Assist in optimizing the Chamber's website, including providing adequate content and information, updating layout, adding pictures, providing suggestions for additional features etc. Support in updating events, news highlights, and member directory on the website.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
