Department for Youth, Taipei City Government, in collaboration with the NTU Office of International Affairs, hosted a sharing session for international interns. OIA specifically invited students participating in the NTU International Mentorship Program who were interning in government and non-profit organizations to share their learning experiences.
For the first time, the Department for Youth recruited interns, including Audrey, Isabelle, and Janet from Harvard University and Columbia University. This summer, they leveraged their respective expertise to conduct research projects in the areas of public politics, financial literacy, and AI and mental health, bringing fresh perspectives to the Department for Youth, Taipei City Government.
Students who participated in the NTU IMP also shared their experiences. Sel San, a Cambodian student studying at Global MBA, interned at Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation. In addition to research, his internship involved organizing events and external communication. He noted that although NGO workers tend to be more introverted, they exhibit excellent teamwork and division of labor when organizing events, requiring minimal communication. Feilicia Gunawan, an Indonesian biomedical engineering student, shared that she received full trust from her team during her internship at Impact Hub Taipei, and she was not questioned about her work ability due to being a foreigner.
Taipei City is home to Taiwan's only Department for Youth with a "Global Engagement Division". The Department and NTU OIA plans to further collaborate in the future.
