【Organization】 From Low-Cost Screws to High-Value Aerospace Components – Sherry Ho Reconstructs the Expansion Journey Walsin’s M&A Strategist Discusses European Market Strategy and Transformation Plans

18 December 2024

Since 2022, Walsin Lihwa, a global leader in stainless steel wire rods, has embarked on a series of strategic acquisitions in Europe. How has the company gradually expanded its business landscape, and how does it plan to integrate its subsidiaries to build a one-of-a-kind stainless steel fleet on a global scale?

"In recent years, traditional industries have faced intense challenges due to geopolitical shifts. Under these circumstances, Taiwanese companies must expand internationally, and mergers and acquisitions are an excellent strategy to achieve this." These words come from Sherry Ho, General Manager of Corporate Strategy and Supply Chain Management at Walsin Lihwa (hereafter referred to as Walsin), a global stainless steel wire rod giant.

On December 11, she attended the 14th Taiwan M&A Gold Awards, where she accepted the "Most Representative M&A of the Year" award on behalf of Walsin. Few people know that this sharp, quick-witted woman, often seen wearing thick-rimmed glasses, is a key figure behind Walsin’s expansion into high-value-added industries through a series of acquisitions.

With a legal background, Sherry Ho had already gained experience in M&A negotiations with multinational corporations before joining Walsin. During her tenure as Walsin’s General Counsel and Corporate Governance Head, she also oversaw the company’s divestment of investments in China.

When Walsin was strategizing its global expansion before the pandemic, this skilled negotiator naturally became Chairman Chiao Yu-Lun’s most trusted right-hand person.
