Great Tree Pharmacy joins hands with NTU research team to develop a golden ratio synbiotic, inspiring a new approach to metabolism

01 April 2025

As public awareness of health continues to rise, the link between diet and gut health has become a topic of increasing concern. Great Tree Pharmacy has partnered with "Leeuwenhoek," a startup spun off from National Taiwan University, to jointly promote research and education related to gut health. Through scientific research and professional expertise, they aim to provide the public with more academic insights and explore nutritional recommendations that meet modern health needs.

Research conducted by Professor Cheng-Chih Hsu’s team from the Department of Chemistry at National Taiwan University has revealed a close relationship between the gut microbiota and the secretion mechanism of the gut hormone GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). GLP-1 is a hormone produced in the human gut, and its role in metabolic regulation has long been a focus of academic research. In recent years, the development of GLP-1 receptor agonists has attracted significant global attention in the pharmaceutical field. Since the approval of Tirzepatide in the United States in May 2022, the drug has subsequently been authorized for specific indications in the European Union, Canada, and Australia. Additionally, GLP-1-related medications such as Semaglutide have been approved in many regions worldwide, underscoring their importance in metabolic research.
