Hitachi Energy Taiwan
Calvin Leo Putra, a third-year Mechanical Engineering student from Indonesia, interned at Hitachi Energy Taiwan through the NTU International Mentorship Program 2023. Under the guidance of Vincent, Vice President & Head of High Voltage, he underwent training at the Kaohsiung plant and participated in project execution, exploring both his career path and the cultural nuances of southern Taiwan.
With aspirations in energy and sustainability post-graduation, Calvin applied for an internship at Hitachi Energy, a prominent player in the field. Joining the High Voltage Products Department, he engaged in significant projects involving gas-insulated switchgear equipment, alongside multiple employee training programs and workshops. This experience enriched his practical knowledge, technical skills, and team management acumen, while also connecting him with a great mentor in the workplace.
Vice President Vincent emphasizes that a successful internship hinges on the engagement of the mentor and organization, aiming to guide young talents in discovering their interests and potential. Over the three-month period, Vincent not only mentored Calvin professionally but also invited him to lunches and team outings, facilitating Calvin’s adjustment to life in Kaohsiung and sharing valuable life experiences that inspired him in his career and life planning.
Calvin's internship at Hitachi Energy Taiwan broadened his horizons beyond Taipei with a rich cultural immersion and allowed him to gain firsthand experience in his ideal industry. Through his involvement in various projects, he accumulated precious skills and experiences, solidifying his career direction for the future.
