FitTech
Michelle Chiu, a third-year Mechanical Engineering student from Indonesia, interned at FitTech in Taichung through the NTU’s International Mentorship Program 2023. At FitTech, a global leader in LED testing and sorting systems, Michelle observed the practical application of academic knowledge under the guidance of VP of Advanced Technology Research Center, Yu-Min Hong, gaining valuable hands-on experience and intellectual growth.
During her internship, Michelle delved into LED (Light Emitting Diode) and LD (Laser Diode) testing for the first time and contributed to the development of machine models. In regular meetings, she reported progress to Vice President Hong, refining her ability to process information and communicate effectively through practice. With the mentor’s meticulous guidance, Michelle underwent numerous meetings and revisions, steadily improving until she finalized the mechanical model equations, translating classroom theory into practical application. Each challenge reinforced the importance of perseverance and striving for excellence, with setbacks viewed as opportunities for growth.
Michelle’s time at FitTech was filled with pleasant surprises. Upon arriving in Taichung, HR representative Sara warmly welcomed her at the train station and provided a tour of this unfamiliar city. Her relationship with VP Hong transcended hierarchical norms, enabling her to freely express ideas and recognize her impact on the team. Furthermore, addressing real-world problems and collaboratively finding solutions marked a significant career achievement. The skills, knowledge, and experience gained throughout this internship will undoubtedly pave the way for Michelle's future success.
