TL Architects

In summer 2023, Min Htet Kaung, a freshman in Civil Engineering from Myanmar, interned at TL Architects & DL Design through the NTU International Mentorship Program. Guided by Founder and Principal Architect Dolly Lin, he immersed himself in architectural design, from initial project assessments and sketching design drafts to 3D modeling.

TL Architects & DL Design is renowned for its diverse portfolio, including prominent commercial buildings like vieshow cinemas and #IKEA stores across Taiwan. Despite his civil engineering background, Min Htet Kaung successfully transitioned into architecture, contributing to projects such as post office renovations, retail store makeovers, and major transit station constructions. This shift demanded a steep learning curve, requiring him to grasp architectural terminology, drawing software, aesthetic presentation, and sustainability integration from scratch.

Throughout the internship, Architect Dolly constantly encouraged Min Htet Kaung to ask questions while colleagues patiently provided suggestions, fostering his confidence and sense of accomplishment in this new domain.

Min Htet Kaung's dedication and passion impressed Architect Dolly. In addition to his proactive approach to learning, Min Htet Kaung also shared insights into Myanmar's culture and architecture, enriching the team's perspectives. This internship solidified Min Htet Kaung's career path, leading him to envision blending structural rationality with architectural sensibility and conveying life's beauty through innovative design.
