West Virginia Taiwan Office

Jomel Sayen from the Philippines is currently pursuing a degree in Marketing at Brigham Young University-Hawaii (BYUH). With a quarter Taiwanese heritage, he has a deep connection to Taiwan, which led him to eagerly participate in the NTUIMP, a first-time collaboration between BYUH and NTU. Drawn to the diverse and rich background of Ricky Lee, the representative from the West Virginia Taiwan Office as a mentor, Jomel chose this office as his internship destination. He hoped to enhance his professional skills and knowledge through this one-on-one mentorship system.
Encouraged by his mentor, Jomel developed an innovative marketing strategy based on his observations and research. He showcased the economic potential of West Virginia by creating both short and long videos, with the opportunity to present them to potential investors at the 2024 Asia Biotechnology Exhibition. Representative Li Zhongyu specifically highlighted that Jomel not only has exceptional market insight but also remarkable diligence and personal charisma. These qualities have allowed him to significantly boost West Virginia's visibility in the Taiwan market, attracting more potential investment opportunities to the office.
