Jane Goodall Institute Taiwan

In summer 2022, Lesly Flores, a Guatemalan student from the Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering had an internship at the Jane Goodall Institute Taiwan through NTU International Mentorship Program. Under the mentorship of Executive Director Kelly Kok, Lesly was inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall’s idea – Roots and Shoots. Therefore, she designed and implemented her own project to encourage the youth to respect their lives and treat them equally.

Lesly devoted herself to Jane Goodall Sustainability Academy, the first experimental elementary school in Asia which focuses on conservation and sustainability. She designed and provided conservation teaching materials for children. She was also the co-facilitator in the summer camp, guiding the children to explore nature and teaching children ecological knowledge. This internship inspired Lesly to create an NGO in Guatemala partnering with JGI.
