Instant NanoBiosensors

David Lenzen from Germany, studying at the Graduate Institute of Brain and Mind Sciences, and Khalil Ur Rehman from Pakistan, studying in the International Graduate Program of Molecular Science and Technology (NTU-MST program), joined Instant NanoBiosensors (INB), a Taiwanese start-up specialized in the development of cutting-edge biosensor platforms.

David once thought about changing his study and career path. After stepping into the field of business development at INB and being mentored by his co-supervisor Emily, he not only had a better understanding of the application of genetic engineering and biotechnology in business development but also how to reach potential customers and promote the company by participating in bio-related exhibitions. Besides, he also took biotech-related business classes to improve himself, hoping that he could become more competent at his job. As for Khalil, specializing in R&D, his main task is to enhance the accuracy of the virus sensors and launch them on the market.

David and Khalil both shared with excitement that there is much room for learning while interning at a biotechnology startup, especially facing the fast transition between research and business application. This internship provided great opportunities for them to put their theoretical learning into practice and to be challenged by the real-world market. They indeed encourage the next batch of students to join startups. You will definitely get loads out of this mentorship program.
