TÜV Rheinland Taiwan

NTU OIA got to meet Stefanie and Clarissa, both from Indonesia and Diego from Paraguay, who all interned at TÜV Rheinland through the NTU Mentorship Program in summer 2022. They were supervised by their respective mentors, Jennifer, the first female managing director, Rita, the Industrial Services and Information Security manager, and Luke, Manager of Product Service Operation Center. During their internship, the interns gained a deeper understanding of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and the Hydrogen Refueling Station Service.

Stefanie mentioned that the International Mentorship Program enabled her to better understand the employment market in Taiwan. The internship experience also allowed her to improve her soft skills and communication skills. Stefanie mentioned that under the guidance of Rita, she became familiar with the automotive hydrogen manufacturing companies, related standards, and production materials.

The work of Clarissa and Diego in the Product Operation Service Center mainly focused on the fields of vehicle functional safety and information security, such as the Internet of Vehicles, self-driving cars, and electric vehicles. In Taiwan, the Internet of Vehicles is a relatively new field. Both mentioned that it takes a lot of effort in background research and data search to become familiar with these topics, but in the process of studying researching, they gained a better understanding of the Internet of Vehicles. Clarissa believes that although the Internet of Vehicles is not much related to what she has learned in the field of machinery, her background knowledge allows her to quickly get started and understand. Diego also said that the NTU International Mentorship Program allowed him to explore more areas of interest and learn knowledge beyond books, which he believes is a necessary skill for all students.
