ENERCON Taiwan
Coming from Indonesia, Derryadi Angputra and Jason Winaka interned at Enerconin summer 2022 through the NTU International Mentorship Program. Derryadi and Jason worked in the technical support department under the mentorship of Bart Linssen, Managing Director of Enercon, and Sandra Chung, an Area Supervisor at Enercon. Derryadi Angputra and Jason Winarka spent their time this summer at Enercon working hands-on with wind turbines and using information analysis to work on wind turbine optimization.
Derryadi, a first-year Industrial Engineering graduate student, applied technical and data analysis skills when conducting field visits to wind turbines. Derryadi also learned how to operate the wind turbine monitoring software, scheduling systems, and software tools.
Jason, a third-year mechanical student, also worked as an intern in the technical support department and directly collaborated with technicians handling wind turbine maintenance. One of Jason's lessons he learned from his co-supervisor Sandra Chung is the importance of safety, especially when managing emergency and contingency plans for wind turbine operations. These safety precautions are imperative for technicians' safety. Overall, Jason felt inspired by this summer internship, as he plans to pursue career opportunities in renewable energy in the future.
The two interns also described how the workplace environment and communication in Enercon were very efficient and equal, and this contributed to their overall positive experience as they could communicate with their superiors and ask questions without fear of being judged.
