Callista Harijanto from Indonesia is a third-year finance major. Having gained valuable experience and benefits from participating in the NTU’s International Mentorship Program last time, she decided to apply for the program again . Although she majors in finance, her family background has made her familiar with the tech industry. Believing that exploring different industries with an open mind can bring new perspectives, she chose to intern at AppWorks, the leading tech venture capital firm in the Great Southeast Asia ecosystem.
During her internship, Alyssa Chen, the Principal of the Accelerator Arm at AppWorks, shared the company's demand for international talent and discussed with Callista the unique cultural perspectives she brings as an Indonesian. Both Alyssa and co-mentor Johnny Chuang emphasized the importance of curiosity. In addition, Alyssa also pointed out common issues she often observes when interviewing intern candidates.
During her internship, Callista assisted with various tasks related to AppWorks' business in Indonesia. She mentioned, "This internship experience deepened my understanding of venture capital and helped me gain a more comprehensive view of the startup ecosystem."
