Decathlon Taiwan

Through NTU IMP 2024, Kenneth Ryan Kusumah and Fiona Cristy began their internships at Taiwan Decathlon, the world's largest sporting goods retailer. Guided by Sanchong store leader Justine LAM, two Indonesian sophomores managed to venture into the sales and management field from a Civil Engineering and Finance background.

As intern store leaders, Kenneth and Fiona were responsible for managing the basketball, tennis, and soccer merchandise sections. Their tasks included introducing products to customers, designing merchandise displays, setting sales targets, and managing inventory. Despite lacking related experience, they were able to integrate into the team within just three months, thanks to Decathlon’s employee training, and monthly meetings to develop individual growth plans. Additionally, Kenneth received high praise from his mentor and earned five-star reviews on Google for his attentive customer service, while Fiona achieved more than double sales growth by redesigning the soccer merchandise display.

Via their internships at Decathlon, Kenneth and Fiona took their first steps into the business field, learning how to run a store practically and witnessing the localized operations of a multinational corporation in person. Certainly, they have gained valuable experiences and realized the limitless possibilities for career development through this cross-disciplinary challenge.
