Lead For Taiwan
In year 2023, Celine Purnomo, Ivy Calista, Jesslyn Katarina. Three students from Indonesia participated in the NTU International Mentorship Program (IMP) and interned at Lead For Taiwan. The students include Celine Purnomo from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Ivy Calista from the Department of Biotechnology, and Jesslyn Katarina from the Department of Agricultural Chemistry. Under the guidance of Co-CEO Bob Lin, Celine and Ivy researched innovative education models and systems across the United Kingdom and Finland, exploring the way to apply the system to critical thinking education in Taiwan Jesslyn, previously involved in iNGOs, focused on analyzing various NGO digital marketing methods and proposing viable strategies for Lead For Taiwan.
Immersed in the vibrant and youthful atmosphere of Lead for Taiwan, Bob worked with the interns to develop research topics. He frequently encouraged them to integrate their own knowledge and experiences. Moreover, they regularly presented their project updates to the team, breaking down existing perspectives and framework. In addition to their research, the three interns actively participated in Lead For Taiwan's events, such as Critical Thinking Summer Camp and the Demo Day. This allowed them to engage with Taiwanese youth, exchange experiences and educational perspectives from different countries and cultures, and reimagine the possibilities of education.
The IMP provided these three students with the opportunity to step outside their usual academic fields during the summer and join a Taiwanese startup NGO. They witnessed how Lead for Taiwan is promoting critical thinking education in Taiwan. Meanwhile, contemplated how they could leverage their own expertise to make an impact on their career paths in the future!
