CancerFree Biotech

Beryl, a senior student from Thailand majoring in Biochemical Science and Technology, interned at CancerFree Biotech this summer through the NTU International Mentorship Program, with the company’s founder and CEO, Po Chen, serving as her mentor.

CancerFree Biotech is a startup company dedicated to innovative precision medicine. The company’s unique technology enables the extraction and cultivation of cancer cells from patients’ blood for analysis and report generation. These data can improve the accuracy of drug prescription and help patients and physicians establish cancer treatment strategies for different stages.

During her internship, Ting-Li was mainly responsible for a research and development project. By looking up information and conductinb data analysis, she helped the company identify more efficient procesure for isolating and cultivating cancer cells. In addition to research, Ting-Li also assisted in writing and submitting a research paper, as well as testing the company’s nutrition analysis software. She also participated in the BioAsia Taiwan exhibition, introducing CancerFree Biotech to attendees and engaging in discussions, which enhanced her oral communication skills.

Reflecting on her internship experience, Ting-Li shared: “CancerFree Biotech’s internship program is very well-planned. It’s not the kind of job where you just clock in and complete assigned tasks. All the interns are very busy and the work is demanding, but it’s an extremely valuable experience that helped me better understand myself, the job market, and the important skills I’ll need in the future. The twelve-week internship also helped me gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s work culture.”
